High Five Friday 040 | Be Your Best Self

BE YOUR BEST SELF

I am writing this, mostly as a reminder to myself, but I feel it's important to share and I hope that it will help someone, that is like me, and needs a little reminder here and there.

Be your best self because when you're legit trying to be the person you want to be, you make better subconscious and conscious choices daily. Being my best self starts by telling myself in the morning to do my best, that I can do hard things, have a daily plan, and do my best to stay on task. Being my best self is knowing how I treat people, how I say things, and how I am doing things. Being my best self is saying no to things that aren't in align with my personal goals. Being my best self is being thankful for what I have daily.

When things aren't going the way you want them to, CHANGE SOMETHING.  Not that I was doing anything wrong on purpose, but I wasn't doing the small things to make myself be better. And it's been long enough that I personally knew it was time to dial myself back in. To realign my mind with my life purpose. This week, I almost had no choice. I basically had a wake up call, and had to re adjust my mental process.

Just by working on small things in the morning and night, my mind has felt more rested, my body has felt relaxed, and I have been able to get more done at work, without killing myself as much at night.

Be your best self, because your future self... is your best self. And you will realize that you can already be your best self today, but it takes consistency to stay that way.

With that, here is week 40 of my #HighFiveFriday blog-podcast-whatever this is.

  3. Music I'm Listening to: Kazy Lambist - On Fire

  4. Who Impacted me: My friend Kade and My sister. I was in a LEGIT bind, and the only two people I knew I could reach out two were them. It's incredible to have people in your life that with no question, no expectation, no judgment, will help you out and be there for you. It was so humbling to know I am blessed enough to have those kind of people in my life.

  5. What I'm working on: Dominating the first hour I wake up and getting in the right mindset as I prep to sleep. What I mean by that is, I have been staying away from my phone for the first hour of the day. No emails, no social media, Just me, morning meditation, the gym, or me prepping for the day. At night, I aim for at least 15 mins of no phone activity before I go to bed. In that time I brush my teeth, get my apparel ready for the next day, and do some stretching. I then lay in bed (until I fall asleep) taking deep breaths while I ponder about the day and I ask myself 2 questions.

    1. Would you re-live this day? If Yes, why, if no, why?

    2. What things happened today that I'm thankful for. This is harder than I thought Because I want to be legit thankful for something. And my immediate REAL things I'm thankful for is, My roommate, my incredible health, The amazing people I work with, the fact I have a crazy comfy bed, and the food I have. I am so blessed. I don't need more than I have.

I am working on this because I feel like I have been overworking myself and it's affecting me in a negative way. So when I feel like this, I know it's time to be self aware and evaluate what I'm doing, and be honest with myself.

Please share this with a friend that might benefit from this!
